Incoming / Reply Gmail tracking

I understand that reply emails from a contact are not tracked in the Gmail tab, but within our Gmail account.  It would be nice to capture those emails within LD so that all conversations could be maintained in one location vs. outgoing email in LD and then having to save the incoming or reply messages in Gmail. Thx.

I have a Gsuite email account by my email domain is not gmail.com. And though I respond to emails in LionDesk occasionally, more often than not I respond to incoming emails from Outlook using my Gsuite account. Will the new planned feature work for me? Man I hope so. And also curious, if I were to decide to move off of a Gsuite account, would it work with my email address if it is not Gsuite? Thanks.

I would like to put additional detail in this request.

1) GMail interactions should be captured in the Contact Activity Timeline and trigger/satisfy whatever reminder workflows attached to the contact. Meta data from Gmail such as Subject, Message ID, and dates can be stored in LD for this purpose.

2) The system should allow selection of outgoing email to use your GMail account. Since you already have the API authorization access into a GMail account, you should be able to send through that GMail account as well. This would also allow you to send an email with a From address other than the email address attached to your account. And because you are sending the email through GMail and not Sendgrid, you will not run into DMARC and SPF record deliverability issues.

3) Email sent through GMail API should also have the open/click tracking as the emails sent through SendGrid. It is vital to retain this email tracking intelligence. All that would be required is the tracking code added before calling the GMail API.

4) The integration with GMail API should pull in (but not necessarily store) the conversation in real time for viewing in LD. Right now there is only a link back to GMail which is not ideal. Rather than storing the whole conversation in LD, LD can store meta data like Subject, Message ID and dates so there is at least a timeline view of the conversation. When someone actually opens the conversation that is when you make another API call to grab the conversation from GMail to display.

5) If #4 is implemented, then you should be able to Reply right in LD and send using #3 through GMail. The whole goal is for the user to never have to leave the LD interface.

6) A little unrelated except to answer the comment by Rick above, this email integration functionality should be extended to include IMAP/POP and SMTP protocol so other email providers with the standard old school IMAP/POP and SMTP services can be integrated.

Thanks and I hope these suggestions makes it into the feature request! Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss further.
